I have returned. Hope you’ve all had a good holiday, and Father Christmas was nice to you! I spent Christmas with my family, and with my friends at new year. It was nice being mothered for a couple of weeks!
The happiness was short-lived, however. It wasn’t long before I was back in exam hell. My first one was six days after I got back to Geneva, so I didn’t have as much time as I would have liked to revise. Worse, one of the days I had two exams on the same day, one at 8:30 in the morning, the second being the one I was dreading the most (Sciences du langage “language science” – a fascinating subject, but too much information for my little brain to hold!). It’s fair to say that it wasn’t a fun day. But, by the end of the week I have finished five of the exams, and there’s just one left next Wednesday. Then I am freeeee, whoooo! Well, free until the second semester starts.
But as for the rest of the week, when I wasn’t doing the actual exams, I was revising for them. I know, fascinating. Although I gave myself some time off over the weekend – I needed to do some shopping so I could eat at the very least! Saturday, I went to go and see ‘Legend’ (VO, or version originale, if you must know), the Brian Helgeland film. It was really good, OK, it was violent (it’s a film about London gangsters, after all), but the actors’ peformances were incredible, especially Tom Hardy (who played Reggie and Ronnie Kray) and Emily Browning (Frances, Reggie’s wife). And then the cinema! I’ve already told you about Cinerama Empire, but this time I went to Ciné 17, which is the cinema that owns it, kind of. It’s quite small for a cinema (there’s only one screen with about fifty seats in it); but it’s really classy, with reclining leather seats! Now my second favourite cinema in Geneva.
On Sunday I went back to church, and it was really nice to see everyone again. We all went out for lunch, and then we went ice-skating! It was so much fun! It’s been a while since I’ve done it, too. It took me a bit of time to get used to it again, but then I was off! And it only cost 2 francs! With no time limit! Now that’s good value for money. I kind of want to go more often, to practice a bit more!
Oh, and I almost forgot – it snowed this week! Well, it flurried in the night, so there was a covering of snow all over in the morning, but it had melted by the afternoon. But I hope it snows a bit more in the next few weeks.
So that’s everything for now, I think. See you next week!
